May 23, 2009 at 8:26 pm #11304Thanks to everybody who joined in…It is a longish drive to Sweihan, but I think it’s worth it, for the challenging terrain that it offers.
11 cars in all, almost all veterans.
Ajay led the drive over some really nice Dunes,
Initially, though, we had to do a bit of reconnoitering to find the entry spot.I personally, had a lot of fun side sloping on those huge Red structures!!!
The sand was very soft & most Drivers managed very well,
though, obviously, we had our share of Pushes & Pulls.Good News is…
The Sand Mountain is still there…as foreboding & challenging as ever, though a little more accessible.Bad News is…
We were late & it was Dark by the time we reached the Sand Mountain,
it was not worth risking taking the whole convoy up, though some of us still made it up in spite of the very soft sand.We were not able to camp or BBQ due to the strong Shamal & Dusty conditions…
We need to make more trips to this area…
there was a nice route from Sweihan to Al’Ain Airport, may be we should do that at some opportunity, in the near future.Naveen, Zaheer & Suri did an excellent job Marshaling & Sweeping, keeping the convoy moving.
Album opened, Photos Posted…please post your own pics, too.
Have uploaded the pics. just awaiting admin approval.
It was a really good drive. Some really challenging terrain and i managed to get off with just 3 stucks. hmmm getting better eh ? 😀
Also experienced my first night drive also and it was fun. My friends were also with me and they enjoyed. already asking me when is next weeks drive. Too bad we couldnt actually reach sand mountain. There is always a next time.
Thanks to everyone for making this a great trip. -
