Hi Guys,
As some of you know my rim is bent during offroading with you on 4th of February. Since that time I am looking for a tyre shop which can fix it; so far no luck.. Chevrolet service is charging hell of money for replacing the rim, hence I am still looking for a shop which can fix it or I will buy a proper second hand one.
Could anyone have a shop / company suggestion which can fix the rim or sell second hand rims?
Need and appreciate your help.
Cheers.
BarisFebruary 22, 2011 at 7:43 am #13728An Alloy rim cannot be fixed and I would suggest to change any damaged Rim as even if you are able to re-shape the dent the Rim will still be never balanced properly and will waver at higher speeds…or worse ๐ฎ
There are a lot of shops in Sharjah where one may be able to get a good bargain on a second hand Rim though it may entail some leg work!!!February 26, 2011 at 7:37 pm #13743Baris , you should go to sharjah near to sharjah college u will find the tyre shops which even sell second hand good condition rims with tires.
Gulf coast tires is one of them – better try there & u will get a better deal.Abdullah
Thanks for the suggestion Abdulla. I alredy did it before reading yours ๐
Went to Sharjah Industrial Area yesterday, spent 5 hours by digging all scrap car garages and luckily found an original rim from a demolished Tahoe Z71.
Al Ghandi Auto was asking 2624 AED to replace it with a new one however after a long bargain I managed to buy it for 600 AED.
By the way Al Ghandi was also asking me to replace my tire as it is flat, however I put it to the new rim and it is still in perfect condition, no issues at all! Surely I will not trust to Al Ghandi Auto ever again!
There is a scarcity in US Brand cars, however the parts from other brands can be found easily. I can suggest all to go to Sharjah and Musaffah Scrap Car Garages before they buy a new part if they cannot afford it for the expensive parts.
Cheers.

I am glad that you found a good solution to replacing the expensive Rim.
It is just not Al Ghandi, all the dealerships operate within the same limited framework,
I destroyed the Gearbox on my 1998 VXR V8 Landcruiser in 2002 while on some wadi drives in Oman & Al Futtaim quoted a tag of 33K to replace the gearbox!!!
I got a replacement from Sharjah from a 2001 VXR V8 Landcruiser for 6K and got it fixed at Al Futtaim only and they charged me about 1k for the labor, so 7K I had the Car as good as new…saving about 25k in the bargain. -
