I am sure no one is trying to offence. Brian as a friend he didn’t mean to offence but he tried his best to suggest a unique nickname for my little Winch ๐ In all cases I have chosen my nickname as Musbah because Musbah is my father name and I feel proud of using my dad name as a nickname (Always thinking of what to be done for my great father to payback the bill and I am sure that whatever we do in our short life will not make us capable to payback what our parents deserves) My ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ to my parents and all parents.
Best Regards
Beautifully put Musbah. Now using “Musbah” to address you gives a very different perspective.

Musbah dear friend, I am humbled. Indeed you are correct, my intention was to honour you and your winch for all the useful work you and ‘it’ gave to the group.
Our parents asked for no reward, we as parents ask for none either. To remember with warmth and lead on by example is enough.
Thank you for your understanding ^:)^
February 17, 2013 at 8:46 am #23407quote Ganesh:Excellent report David….thanks a ton for saving my time as theres hardly anything left to add on…. As Kumar said its really nice to see our members coming forward and writing detailed reports….thats the spirit…@Kumar….the name “Dada Bowl” was recommended by David… It was defenitely a very nice bowl infact I liked it better than Iftar bowl….this too has some concrete in the centre…U must be knowing this for sure….
:thanks: to everyone who joined me in the convoy…..After Wasi ditched us ๐ in the morning I took Brian as my second lead followed by Rakesh who was accompanied with his dad, then David, Razik, Musbah & Aemi…..The moderator Thanseer SIR was also with us most of the time….
BIG thanks to Brian and Nikki for the awesome cupcakes and specially the “DO” mark on it…that was nice….
DO mugs were been given to Member of the weeks – Musbah, Sanjay & Brian by our most senior member – Thanseer SIR… This mug is a mark of appreciation to the members for their special contribution to the club in terms of driving skills, helpful & kind nature, attitude, commitment and dedication….
With the pleasent morning chilled climate, the drive took off well in the beginning when we entered through the farms behind Badayer……I immediately tried to give everyone a glimpse of how the entire drive is going to be….and everyone did a fantastic job….high dunes with crest cutting, slide slopes, ridges…..As we moved away from this place the dunes were not that high but the sand was absolutely soft….as Sayedbhai mentioned “Powder”. I had to caution Brian in following me a couple of times as I could feel the enitre convoy could face some difficulty in some soft areas…..
Brian did a fabulous job as the second car taking care of the possibilities of the soft patches while the lead is judging the sand…It was indeed a joke when his tyre was popped out…and I couldnt believe it actually happened…but it was fixed in seconds….Well done Brian :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Rakesh got the best experience of his desert driving today…. I hope he got the feeling of what is meant by an Intermediate level drive….at one time his dad came to me and said “I think my son has to do some more learner’s drives”. I totally agree with him, but the way Rakesh followed the tracks and dunes was amazing….atleast I must say that his level of confidence in crossing the dunes has gone much higher by now…… Great job Rakesh….keep driving with us and u will be flying in the sands one day (Pajero rocks) ๐
David also drove very well…At some times he was getting nervous and getting stuck…but thats the part of the game brother….no gain without pain….the more you get stuck, the more experienced driver u become….the next time you will always remember these minor mistakes and you will find a way to overcome this….I should also thank you for taking the responsibility of the photography session as I was totally concentrating on giving you guys an excellent driving experience today…
Razik’s improvement has been seen and he was with me both on Friday and Saturday drives….Well done Razik…keep up the spirit and theres a good future for you in Dubai Offroaders…. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
A Snake is incomplete without its tail so am I without without my amazing sweepers – Musbah & Sayedbhai…. Thanks would be a very small thing to tell u….u guys deserve a :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug: and a ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ for the excellent support and guidance provided to everyone in the convoy…. I dont think without his winch I could have come out of that sinking sand area…..
Sayedbhai with all his expertise and his guidance over the radio for each and every move of a particular driver when he gets stuck or finds difficult to climb a dune….His soft words gives a sort of confidence to the members and this was told to me by Rakesh that he felt so relaxed that Sayedbhai was there to guide him everytime….. Gr8 job Sayedbhai… :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
The modertor was not everywhere this time…infact he was with us most of time…. His self recovery techniques has always been unique and a good lesson to everyone…. Thank you Thanseer SIR for everything….
Iam eagerly waiting for an amazing video from Musbah and also want to see the pictures posted by David…..Thanks David for also posting the drive details…..
Also waiting for SIR’s comments :-w
Thank you all for the lovely company and see you guys very soon for yet another thrill….
Cheers
I am truly SORRY Dada for not making up to the drive…. ๐ ๐ ๐ i am surprised myself for not waking up… :-??
But reading the reports and seeing the pictures i feel so sad missing this drive with you… :((
Next time i will not sleep till the drive…. X(
But again a superb drive Dada… :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:Sorry again DADA…… ๐ Will not let u guys down further,,, :thanks:
Thanks Amjed for your kind words and excellent reporting.
BIG thank you to Ganesh, Ashok, Amjed & Thanseer for your outstanding lead and support I truly enjoyed the discussions about the challenging terrains in Oman and hope to one day join on one of those trips.
Brian, MERCI pour les gateaux!! (That’s “thanks for the cakes” in French) ๐
I truly enjoyed the route selected by the Marshalls, amazing scenery and great company. Shabeer, :thanks: for watching my back and for the best mandarin oranges I have ever eaten!!!
Wishing everyone a great week ahead and look forward to next trips.
quote Amjed:Meeting Point : Badayer shops
Time : 7.30 am
Convoy 1 – Lead Ganesh,Brain, Rakesh,Bubban,David,Razik,Musbah, Syed at sweep
Convoy 2: Lead โ Ashok, Rein, Jason,Dhaval,Amin,Shabeer,Mathew & Amjed at Sweep
Moderator : ThanseerAll the driver met at Badayer shops and as designated both the convoys Ashokโs & Ganeshโs โ Brain, Rakesh,Bubban,David,Razik,Musbah, Syed) eagle eye( Thanseer) left from the meeting point at 8 am to quench the sand thirst.
Before that DO soverniers were distributed to the marshals present and also the previous member of week , Musbah,Brain & Mathew.
And Brain distributed the home baked muffins & cup cakes, thanks Brain. The drive was very smooth with small hiccups ( second attempts) & stucks which were dealt with ease, Ashok took the convoy like a piece of cake, the trick tracks, soft bowls and high dunes, the convoy was floating on the sands.
Rein you have mastered the art and Amin as well, you both drove very well, Dhaval & Jason you both too have done very well but you both need to know more about your vehicle and its capabilities which will improve more of your skills to conquer the dunes and kill the fear factor which is main cause to get stuck.
Shabeer no need to mention about your driving you have already proved yourself as an excellent sand bug
Mathew excellent work at sweep & with wonderful company Paul, you have excelled the art & improved a lot of your skills, hats of guys.
Over all everyone done well at todayโs drive & thanks to Ashok to choose an excellent terrain as per the convoy allocated , another feather to your hat today !I had a flying day as was free to capture the convoy & keep an eye on the convoy, apart from another Eagle Eye (SIR Thanseer ) which was somewhere invisible but a watch was always there & thanks to Syed bhai as could hear him all through the drive pushing the drivers on the radio.
The drive ended at Shuieb Adnoc at 12 pm and we all left home
Look forward to see you all soon again, drive safe & have fun.
***Note: would advice drivers not to bring family or kids to intermediate drive for your own safety.
Guys now look forward to your reports & feedback about today’s drive.

Wasi…You better change your slogan…it is catching up with your activities… ๐ late last time, no show this time…Mom n Dad…NO to offroading ๐
I hope you are not taking your words literally…you need to be well rested prior to entering the desert…or else it is trouble not only for you but for the others too…It had been proved that a sleepy driver is much more dangerous than a drunk driver…

Hey Wassi, created another problem??? :)) :)) :)) But its interesting to recollect the sequences ๐
1) Not reaching the meeting point “early” to join the convoy in time.
2) Wanted to finish the drive “early” to leave the convoy “early” than to the scheduled finish time.
3) Couldn’t sleep “early” by not taking your words literally or catching up with your activities.
4) Couldn’t get up “early” to comply with the commitment to join the drive. Now how does that word “early” sounds to you Wasi???????? 8-| 8-| 8-| #:-s #:-s #:-s =)) =)) =))

Hi all!
Report time!
All the reports so far have been extremely detailed. I honestly can’t think of any more comments to add, so I thought I’d just share a few of my thoughts on the experience I had…
1) The intermediate drive is definitely far removed from the learner’s drive. The convoy is smaller, and the drive is more intense. No chance that any one is making it through, regardless of vehicle, without any sort of sand driving experience.
2) At the initial point of the drive, we needed to climb over a massive dune, in order to get on to the major part of the route. As this was my first intermediate drive, and as I didn’t really know what to expect :-\ , I was scared witless (I used a more family appropriate rhyming word there :)) ). I had no idea how to even attempt it, so all I did was follow Ganesh’s lead… and what a lead it was :ymapplause: !
3) The route was very exciting, climbing up the crests of sand dunes, using momentum to get out of bowls, steep descents… I was concentrating so hard that i didn’t have time to be scared anymore!
4) Walkie Talkie/Radio – ESSENTIAL! For asking the lead to slow down, to calling for help, to just randomly informing the convoy of what’s going on.
5) Judging the amount of distance to keep between the car ahead of you is also very important. Not too little that you end up suffocating the car in front of you, but not too much that you end up losing the trail!
6) It seems to me that the Sweeps are the most important part of the convoy. Luckily for us we had Musbah as well as Syed bhai on that day, who did a PHENOMENAL job of keeping things in check :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: . Musbah had his work cut out for him on recoveries, and Syed bhai’s constant advise was much appreciated!
7) Having monster truck wheels and a 1000 HP engine is really not necessary for anyone to get through sand successfully (although it would be really cool to have both ๐ !). One thing that I’ve really learned from the past 3 drives – IT”S NOT ABOUT THE CAR, IT”S THE DRIVER! Experience, experience, experience!
Thanks Ganesh for your kind words… my confidence level has definitely gone up. I only hope that i didn’t slow you guys down too much.
Thanks Brian for the lovely breakfast, and for always keeping an eye out for me!
Thanks to Thanseer, as the moderator of the drive. It’s always wonderful to see him just magically pop out of the dunes from nowhere!
All in all, can’t wait for the next one.
BRING IT ON!
