Fantastic drive….
Many many thanks to Lead Mr. Ganesh,
:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:Sweep : Mr. Gkumar and Sayed Bhai
:ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug:Co drive mates: Musbah, Wassi, Deniz, Saj and Brian..
:ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:Shabeer Saidu Mohammed..
Oh dear looks like I’ve offended :-s , but maybe not.. .. ๐ umm how do I express myself or even should I ๐ OK, Sir is a title used in the Military worldwide in all the languages to impart respect to superior rank, that far I guess we are in agreement ๐ Since you are a Brigadier and I a lowly private that all hangs together ๐ , you could, if you were so inclined, embellish that with my exposure in my youth to the Military of the Navy variety in which respect for rank is instilled from day one. Having risen to the dizzy heights of Master, Captain if you prefer, it is sort of deeply engrained on my psyche B-) So now we must overlay decades of personal growth, beyond that very constrained military existence, where trust and respect are earned not given. You young man have, in the very short time I’ve known you, earned my respect ๐ so in this tight community we have, where ‘bullshit’ is what male cows do and not what DO’ers do, Sir is a manner of address that ticks lots of boxes for me. If you are uncomfortable with that then my apologies ๐ I shall have to use something else, GKumar or Shreya’s dad ๐ For ranks superior to your own, even though we’ve all been striped of rank or title, Sir may also be appropriate, ‘cos you don’t build a community like this without commanding, voluntarily given, repect ๐ ๐
In conclusion Mr Moderator & sweep, with Sayed Bahi, for this drive. Thank you for your observations, welcome as always. I can see my attitude and approach changing the more I watch the experienced, get the feel of the vehicle, improve my reading of the sand (today’s popout was due to a hesitation in that area of knowledge acquisition). All this is what I get from simply having FUN…truly amazing.
PS I think the Camels lured us to the softer sands ๐ฎ
:)) =)) :))February 2, 2013 at 6:22 pm #22828Over view the drive was excellent….but m low as i lost my DO magnetic stickers due to rain…. ๐ :(( :((
Mr.Kumar any chance of getting another set of those…???quote brianj:Oh dear looks like I’ve offended :-s , but maybe not.. As you said, we’ve all been striped of ranks, hence military norms can be now ignored :p We all drive together, help each other and share experiences – just for fun :-BD
Thanks for your kind words, which indeed is a great compliment :ymblushing: You can address me just as Kumar and I am more than happy with it ๐ :pquote wasiabbas:Over view the drive was excellent….but m low as i lost my DO magnetic stickers due to rain…. ๐ :(( :((
Mr.Kumar any chance of getting another set of those…???Hi Wassi, I remember we prepared those magnetic stickers for the GNFD DO Convoy. To my knowledge, its not there in stock. May be we will make a few in near future.

Your waiting time is over Musbah…..here comes the report.. ๐
An absolute thrilling and drizzling drive……though we were blessed to not have the rains while driving in the sand….
we had 9 cars in total at the meeting point…Ashok & Sanjay had to miss the drive….Sanjay overslept in this nice chilled morning weather ๐Nice to see everyone on time….deflated at the meeting point itself and proceeded towards the starting point…. This was my second lead drive and the first Intermediate drive…though I had to change the level later on…. Since Ashok couldnt turnup..Musbah was made the second lead followed by Wasiabbas, Denis, Shabeer, Saj, Brian and Sayedbhai & Kumar as my sweep… :-BD
It was a great feeling for me to lead the convoy with one of most favourite marshals of our club at the sweep position – Mr. G Kumar… :ymhug:
The drive started well with an immediate message on the radio …stuck….That a good sign of a nice drive ahead….A drive with a couple of stucks doesnt mean a bad drive….it means the lead is allowing his convoy members to challenge some dunes to make them perfect in the offroad business…
Denis and Shabeer were the first to get stuck and I think throughout the drive till Iftar bowl all the recoveries were self recoveries…Thats what we call the best sweeper marshals in action….Sayedbhai was continously busy in his work and everyone knows how best he is in his job…Thanks a ton Sayedbhai for the continuos support….Kumar was only needed when the situation would be more difficult and I was absolutely relaxed leading when Kumar is there to rescue anyone in whatever position he has got stuck….We reached on top of the pyramids and then keeping in mind the difficulties faced by fellow members I had to bring down one level down, as I didnt want anyone to damage their cars…infact I was very much amazed the way everyone performed…and Im sure each participant had a smile on their face after crossing each hurdle… ๐
Once we reached the Iftar bowl by 10.15am, everyone tried their attempts to reach on top and it was nice to see 5 cars on top – Kumar, Sayedbhai, Musbah, Brian & Wasi :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: …..Saj tried a couple of attempts but couldnt reach…Kumar & Sayedbhai made him realise the reason which we can see in Saj’s comments….We all played at Iftar bowl for nearly 30-40 minutes and then decided to march towards the most exciting part of our drive “The Ghost Town ” :ymdevil: :ymdevil: :ymdevil: …
Denis had some issue with the oil leakage in his car and Saj had to quit the drive for some family commitments.. No issue guys theres always a next time….Kumar lead the two cars to the road and then came back to join us.
It was then 7 cars to fight the ghosts…The message was clearly given to every driver to maintain safe distance and momentum as the sand is toooooooooo soft in this area…The dunes are not at all high but very very tricky and soft….The climate was just too good for us to fight the stucks and pop-outs….
The ghosts had already shown their presence but inspite of that we made it without any damage…. Sayedbhai & Brian faced the pop-outs whereas at a couple of spot, I was too stuck and was recovered by Kumar….Musbah was the winchman today and was used to recover Brian before his popout was rectified…
I made sure to read the dunes very carefully so that we dont have much stucks in the convoy and we reached the Ghost town finally….. The challenge for me was not only to lead the convoy safely to the destination but also to fulfil Kumar’s beautiful daughter Shreya’s wish to visit the Ghost town and I was happy to see the happiness on her face when she saw the place….
I hope every new comer to this place now knows the reason behind the difficulty in reaching this place…and tell you the truth you guys were just amazing as we have never tried a fewbee drive to this place.
Every driver in the convoy were the best in their driving skills :
Musbah has continously shown his driving skills and you did a fantastic job being the second car in the convoy allowing me to lead with ease…. :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Wasi was much more than expected and he proved it by reaching the top of Iftar bowl… :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :-BD
Shabeer is a very good driver with his Vitara but had a bad day due to the terrain and the rain and as Kumar said the gear limitaion of your car was making it difficult for u to self recover..But all said and done u drove very well :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Denis was just losing his confidence in his car and Im sure you will gain this confidence by driving more drives with us… ๐ ๐ I felt very sorry for you to leave the drive due to the oil leakage as it could be dangerous taking the risk at the ghost town area..
Saj– I can defenitely see the improvement and the confidence u are gaining in each drive…You did a fantastic job and I hope the sweep Marshals guidance will help you in understanding you car more…We will do more drives to the ghost town and im sure you wont miss it ๐
Brian – Its always a pleasure to have you in the convoy for many reasons…you defenitely drive well…secondly your happy nature makes everyone feel very nice throughout the drive… :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug:Now what can i say about my sweep marshals for the day…..Sayedbhai has always been helpful and very patient and understanding in recovering the cars who get stuck…and the best is the clear message he gives in the radio to the lead to stop or slow down if there is any stuck….Thank you so much Sayedbhai for all your help and support…It really gives me a tension free mind to lead…
GKumar….the person who is known for his abilities, nature, kindness and over and above the experience he has in offroading…. It was indeed my pleasure to lead a convoy with my teacher and role model in sweep….Thank you Kumar for all the guidance, learning and tips you have showered on me due to which today Im able to lead a convoy without any tension…. :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug: :-BD
We touched the road at 1.15 p.m. and everyone made their way back to their home in a nice rainy weather….
Thank you all for your lovely company and I hope to see you again for many more drives in future….please do let me know if you feel I need to change anything in my lead pattern…. Thanks once again
:thanks:Cheers :-BD
:thanks: you kindly Ganesh,
If I contribute something to my fellow DO’ers then I am happy ๐ , but I am merely a reflection of what is around me, every one is there ‘Just for Fun’ so we are happy people. ๐ฎ :drive: ๐:drive: for the great lead, the only comment I have on your lead is…WHEN’S the NEXT ONE ๐ ๐
Awesome Dada!!! A great drive to finish with an astounding drive report :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: It was like having a “Cuban Cigar to finish off a Victorian Meal” ๐ ๐ ๐
I was expecting your demand for a party from me at the end of drive report, for all those good words and appreciations :p :p :p I think you missed to post it, its never too late bro…….. go ahead :)) :)) :))
Someone taught me this business and shared their rich experience with me ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ Therefore I love to share my limited knowledge with anybody in this business, but only to those who are interested. ๐ ๐ ๐ Yes, that makes a very big difference or else it may sound like “bullshit of a male cow” (Thanks Brian for this typical English usage, I like it ๐ )
Dada, you picked up this trade very quickly, despite the limitations of your car, just because you were always keen to learn and kept aside all ego upshots :-BD :-BD :-BD Its always my pleasure to drive with you and look forward to repeat it umpteen times :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug:
