Vow!!! we are going to have 11 early birds for this drive to explore one of the tough terrains \:D/
Now, the Christmas Gift ๐ ๐ ๐ – Instead of a long convoy, we will explore the area in 3 small convoys ;;)
The lead of each convoy shall change at specific waypoints. All convoy members to try their hand at lead :-BD. Therefore have with you a good GPS with the waypoints (uploaded at the first post of this drive) stored in it.Drive Format:-
1) Considering the terrain and long route, the drive should start sharp at 8am. No waiting [-X
2) Convoys shall depart at a gap of 5 to 10 minutes and the respective lead shall take appropriate route, depending on his convoy to the next way point.
3) All convoys to regroup for a short break at WP14 (N24.620542, E55.493517 or N24 37.233 E55 29.611) and continue the drive in same convoys.Drive Safe, Have Good Fun :-BD :-BD :-BD ๐ ๐ ๐

December 21, 2012 at 6:42 am #20925quote desert knight:This is a great format to help our regular members learn the art of leading …… this format was very well though off by our brig tushar …. and i hope we can make this format regular for the Saturday drives ….. all the best boys and hope to see detail reviews of everyone’s performance . keep up the good work ……….Really chief this drive format is very good and where each individual can explore his skill set for the next level, again big :thanks: to Mr. Tushar to introduce this new style of :drive:
One more :thanks: to Mr. Tushar for sending way points and Map coordinates that’s really great initiative which you started from our Sand mountain drive.
In short “Experience Speaks Out “
Will try to join this drive on Saturday….
Thanks to everybody for driving safe and for making best use of this free style drive format :thanks: ๐ :ymapplause: I hope you all learned and enjoyed the lead and drive ๐ The chosen track would have been more tough, if it had not rained recently but there was an equal danger of hard sand patches especially at slopes, which you all managed very well :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
The convoy started moving from the meeting point as planned sharp by 8am as all 12 cars reported in time :-BD After a short drive briefing on the format and safety note, the convoy was divided in 3. A senior member was assigned the responsibility of each convoy who was also authorized to take any decision. Amjed was incharge for the 1st convoy of “Jeepers” with Rahul, Ricardo and Tyn. Ashok was incharge for the 2nd convoy with Dada, Syed Bhai and Fida. I took Musbah and Krishnan with me as 3rd convoy.
Brigadier SIR was let free to explore the beautiful terrain of his own, with the overall supervision responsibility. SIR was also given full authority to interfere and decide on any convoy, if he finds anything unsafe. All 3 convoys did an amazing job :ymapplause: not giving a chance to SIR to execute his given powers ๐ …………:D
There were 2 common meetings points during the drive for quick regroup and to make any changes if required. Absolutely no changes were required and as planned the convoys regrouped at the designated points for a short chit chat and continued with the original plan and adventure ๐

View Map:- http://goo.gl/maps/5S9FTBoth Musbah and Krishnan did a splendid job, no stuck, no popout, no recoveries and not even repeated attempts ๐ฎ We did lot of crest cuttings through out the drive and I was amazed to see both of you executing it perfectly and safely :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: That pushed me to keep increasing the drive level :-BD We crossed almost all high dunes very easily and could maintain excellent pace to reach first at all points… ๐ Awesome job, keep driving safe :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: ๐ ๐ ๐
All three convoy reached very safe and happy at ADNOC Al Faqqa, inflated and headed home. Expecting feedback and drive reports from all convoys to have a complete picture of this successful event. Thank you all once again :thanks:
Look forward to have many more such interesting drives with you all again ๐ :drive: :drive: :drive:
It was an interesting drive to test the navigation skills of all the convoy, I was first to be at the meeting point followed by Musbah, Ricardo,Tyn and later all.
Left to deflation point from the meeting point where the convoys were decided and I was leading the jeepers, Rahul,Tyn and Ricardo.
The drive terrain was soft, tricky dunes and later the lead was given to Ricardo, Tyn and Rahul, everyone performed excellent without any hurdles.Later chasing high dunes, I had a popout which was cleared in no time and headed towards the waypoint 14 where all the 3 convoys were to meet again but few meters ahead Rahul had a popout and that too was cleared in no time, later we met the whole convoy at waypoint 14 and then again we headed towards other waypoint with very high dunes , side slopes and lot of Ghazals to chase with.
I had the fun of driving as lead most of the time and rest as last car, everyone was during great . At a point all the drives requested to have some free play at few dunes and everyone quenched their thirst of great side slopes and crest crossing the high dune.
At last we all met at Adnoc AlFaqa our last point, inflated and left home with very big smile on our faces and full of satisfied drive for this weekend.
:thanks: Thanks Kumar for the excellent drive format and SIR for being the flying angle with us all time.
Ricardo, Rahul & TYN excellent driving skills and thanks for the company, hope to see you all very soon.
Not to forget all the other offroaders at todayโs drive hope everyone had good time and safe driving.
:thanks: Thanks DO & Kumar
First of all…a big Thanks to Kumar for organising today’s drive and the format too….Ashok, myself, Aemi (Sayedbhai) and Fida were in one convoy…..Ashok started the proceedings of the drive and then later I was given the chance to lead….As Kumar said earlier the area was wet and it was too risky for the slide sloping…But nevertheless the entire drive was full of challenging dunes and sharp turns…
I was stuck in a pocket and thanks to everyone for helipng me out to get out of it without having a pop-out…
It was a nice scenery of beautiful dunes with plenty of gazels running around….Everyone in our convoy was given a chance to lead and each one of us was absolutely brilliant…..
After we all met at the break point at # 14, our convoy was led by Aemi and then I took over from the half way…
Overall a fantastic format which helps each one of us to learn the art of leading a convoy…
Thank you Ashokbhai, Aemi and Fida for the support and guidance throughout the drive….
We should have more drives of this sort in future…
Cheers
Really enjoyed the flexibility and ‘loose’ hierarchy on this drive. It indeed helps improve driving skills in general and it is more fun. Also driving on a small convoy dramatically reduce ‘waiting’ time as well as the whole thing feels more organized. Thanks Amjed for executing this new format very well and thanks Kumar for the nice route.
today’s all credit goes to Kumar and other marshal in organizing such a drive, feel this format should be done again and again with small convoys max 5 drivers only. hope to do it again the same route when the sand is soft as AlFaqa is known for soft powder sand.
WHAT A FANTASTIC DRIVE :drive: :thanks:
Hats off to Kumar for the wonderful lead selecting right path and keeping same pace and avoiding bowls but at the same time raising the leve in the second phase. was glad to be sweeping but the drive was so wonderful that there were no stuck, no popout and as kumar mentioned there was no need even to get ouot of the vehilce other than for wating for other convoys :thanks:
Excellent driving by Musbah who followed Kumar’s track without any deviation and really deserves a great applause. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Dada and kumar have already done the detailed reporting.
Have a good week and see you all soon.
