Sharjah Desert Closed for Offroading?

Recently there has been a message circulating on social media and Whatsapp messenger. The message shows the pictures of newly installed signboard warnings across various popular offroading locations in Sharjah for example Al-Badayer, Big-Red, Fossil Rock, etc. that driving over the dunes on 4×4 vehicles and motorcycles is prohibited and the police is monitoring these sites using drones so heavy fines shall be imposed on the violators.
However, when I tried to search this online, All I found was this article from 2018 which basically says that Irresponsible and Wreckless driving is illegal and punishable by law. https://gulfnews.com/uae/crime/officials-flatten-sand-dunes-to-check-reckless-off-roaders-1.60626369My question is, can anyone enlighten us that what’s the real story?
