My Nissan Patrol has a main tank and a sub tank which i believe must be the case with many other vehicles too.

Could some one guide if the sub tank should be used regularly or can it be left unused for regular day to day use.

I use both the tanks regularly…fill up both when one goes to filling station & then drive till both are almost empty…which for my LC is almost 700Kms…saves a lot of time!!!

Thanks for your input. So far have not used the sub tank, neither the previous owner has used.

I would prefer to use both but the doubt i have in mind is :-

1) Does it get rusted if not used for long?
2) If the sub tank is filled and not used does it have a negetive impact?

There are a number of subsystems associated with the sub Tank…all of which would keep in good working order if they are used regularly.
