A quick short message like the ones you can expect from a smartphone.. Kumar, you did it again! Your organising skills seem to have no limits What a great drive and what a cool way to say farewell to 2012 offroad style. A lovely pace through all the areas we’ve come to know so well over the last year. See y’all in 2013 for more fun in the sand!
December 29, 2012 at 12:21 pm #21152100% agreed with Tyn…was Good high pace and Safe Drive. Today i also visited Ghost Town but nobody was its victim.
Goodbye 2012…..That was the slogan of today’s Marathon drive……A perfect drive with most of the experienced drivers of our club….and the drive was absolutely perfect…..Great lead by Kumar and even the execution of the plan was awesome…. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: ….
We have been covering each of these points in seperate drives….but to pay a tribute to all these points…it wouldnt have been better than today’s plan….The drive went on like this :
We all met at Khatam at 7.30am….Sayedbhai and Ricardo couldnt make it…..So the convoy was Kumar as the lead followed by myself as the second car…then Firoz with his FJ….and then the Jeepers Amjed, Rahul and Tyn….and finally Thanseer at the last…
The Drive Route : Fossil Rock, Camel Rock, Saddle Point, The Big Fall, Pink Rock, Big red, Pyramids, Iftar bowl and finally The Ghost Town.
Each and every point was dealt and completed with great expertise by all the participants….There was not a single stuck by any of us except a small stuck by Thanseer behind Fossil rock….Kumar made the difficulty level of the drive from Intermediate to advance with full pace and momentum….with as many as side slopes, big dunes, soft patches, ridges, crests….We halted at some places to have a breakfast bite and then proceeded further….
Once we reached the top of the Big Red….we had some nice time chatting and watching the buggies moving around everywhere….When we were planning to move we saw one Hummer got sunk in the sand and so as a part of our Dubai Offroaders Club motive of helping everyone who is stuck, it was a nice scene to see a Pajero pulling Hummer ๐ …..and Kumar was on the driver seat and he managed to self recover the Hummer with ease…. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Then we proceeded the other side of the road to the Pyramids and the drive was too good…..very challenging too….Each one us had to really test their skills to cross these dunes with plenty of twists and turns fighting the soft sand….
I always had the thought in my mind that I have never been successful in climbing the Iftar bowl and the Big Red…..So Big Red was done this time and then as we were approaching towards Iftar bowl….I didnt realise at one point that i was already climbing it in full pace following Kumar and then when my shot gun Mujeeb told me that we are at Iftar Bowl….I think My Pajero heard it and it lost the momentum…but I should say I was almost on the top for the first time… ๐ ๐ ๐
Firoz was on the top and waiting for me to click a nice picture…but Im sorry Firoz, as the lead had already told we are not halting at Iftar bowl, I couldnt wait there to take ur pic….and just left ahead….next time u reach there again and I wl surely give u a nice picture…. ๐
Now comes the last point and the most challenging – Ghost Town…..This time the ghosts were not angry at us and they wanted us to reach their town…but as we know….its never easy….Kumar made us feel the softest of sands possible and then we reached the Ghost town, took some pictures, had some bites and then left to the Madame Adnoc pump….I think the entire drive was approx 75 km and right from 8.00 am to 1 pm…
Thanks Kumar for the wonderful fast pace experience….It was the perfect way to pay a tribute to all the points which we have been driving many times….
I would be taking a break next week and see you all for the Gulf News Fun Drive on 11th….
The pictures will be soon uploaded on the facebook page.
Cheers…
All i can tell is one of the best & long drives to say good bye to 2012 and :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: to Kumar for the wonderful drive to test us with all the skills learnt at DO from all the Marshals & seniors.
Thank you all (Kumar,Ganesh, Firoz, Rahul,Tyn & Sir Thanseer) for the great company best drive without any stucks.
Look forward to new year with many more drives and new faces to the club.

What an offroad farewell for 2012!!! :ymparty: :ymparty: :ymparty: :ymblushing: :ymblushing: :ymblushing:
A dream come true drive and so many nice compliments……… what more can i expect for a splendid offroad farewell ๐ก ๐ก ๐ก
Hey, my plan would have remained as a plan, if you guys were not the convoy. Hence, all compliments and appreciations belong to you all for the awesome drive, perfect execution and safe driving :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug: You all proved beyond doubt that you are now experts in this business :-BD :-BD :-BD
I thank each one of you for joining this drive and for the remarkable performance in making this drive a grand success. Big Thanks Ganesh, Firoz, Amjed, Rahul and Tyn :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: I dont have any words to praise your drive, you guys are rocking \M/ \M/ \M/
I will now share the stimulus behind the drive plan ๐ My first drive with DO was Farewell 2011 After an year of so many drives with DO buddies, thought to pay tribute to all those learning playgrounds. I was very excited today to have Thanseer and Ganesh from my first DO convoy, very badly missed Ricardo, Rob, Ashok and Gerry ๐ Special thanks to SIR – my first lead marshal at DO was there again with support ๐ I know this motive behind the drive plan will be a surprise to both of you, but i loved it ๐ก
Thanks Dada for the amazing drive report as usual, you covered everything nothing more for me to add. Dada had a concern that he couldn’t ever reach the top of Big Red and Iftar Bowl ๐ I was very happy to take you Dada to the top of Big Red with ease and the same strategy was repeated at Iftar Bowl after lot of warmup bowl sessions. You were almost at the top of Iftar Bowl till shotgun rider Mujeeb told you its Iftar Bowl – what next? applied brakes and went down =)) =)) =)) So its not because of your car or skill, you never wanted to do it ๐
I felt sad for you Dada for spoiling the wonderful picture opportunity of Pajero pulling out H2. The guy was so scared, he requested me to take the wheels. Its my long pending wish to try H2 in sands and thereby I couldn’t resist myself from attempting a self recovery, which worked. By the way the guy was testing his new offroad tyres without deflating :)) :)) :)) So my wish to drive H2 in sands was also fulfilled during today’s drive ๐
Thanks to both Firoz and Ganesh for the breakfast arrangements :thanks: :ymhug:
This time, DO convoy beat the ghosts effortlessly and invaded their habitat ๐ :-BD Having in mind the absence of our dear Winchman, was quite careful in carving a safe route. Though I had couple of hard time at lead, the whole convoy was truly amazing in this tough stretch :ymblushing:
All together a memorable and successful drive. Very happy to finish 2012 offroading on a grand note ๐ Look forward for another year of happy and safe offroading :-BD
Wishing all DO’s a VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2013 :ymparty: :ymparty: :ymparty:

I had the pleasure of reading your report especially the above one and enjoyed it tremendously.
Once I noticed that your first drive you started with me where I was leading the convoy for Farewell drive of 2011, and today Farewell drive of 2012 you lead the drive and I was supporting. What else one Marshal can expect from his followers within one year time.
I want to tell you how proud I am of you for your outstanding achievement in obtaining your Lead Marshal status within one year time span. It takes special dedication and perseverance to get through such a level. Your determination to reach your goal has been admirable. You are a good role model.
I congratulate you and wish you the best as you embark on your next exciting adventure. Your achievement is an example to us all.
I appreciate your devotion to your position and wish that we had more leaders like you.
:thanks:
