Thanks to all the participants for the stupendous turnout for the drives on 23rd and 30th of August 2013.
This not only signifies that the season has started in real earnest but also testifies to the fact that we need more volunteers as Rangers and Marshals to manage and all the exciting activities that the new season brings.
The role of a Leader, as in any field, is not restricted just to the core driving ability but also involves Navigation, Rescue techniques, decision making, communication, leadership, interpersonal relationship skills and last but not least…emergency and first aid, which will, hopefully, never be required.
This is obviously physically and mentally challenging but has many rewards the least of which is to be learning outdoor skills in the beautifully rugged desert as well as forging friendships with like minded individuals.
This is to invite any prospective Member who is interested in learning the finer tricks of the trade under some of the most experienced and foremost offroad drivers in UAE. They will also get an opportunity to develop their outdoors man skills actually doing things practically, in the field, while helping others to learn.
Any member with a minimum of 3 stars could apply for this role and will be then groomed for a leadership role and can expect to rise as a Ranger or a Marshal in the group depending on their attitude and preparedness to learn.
All interested members please put their names here.Wow!
When is the deadline? Do I have time to earn THE missing star? :ymblushing:
Surely not yet ready for Marshal’s responsibility, but would love to get into sweeping/assisting in the near future B-)PS: My first aid kit usually consists of tool box, oils, coolant, super glue etc :))

Thank you for this.
Always up for gaining more experience and taking an active part in the clubs development.
September 1, 2013 at 5:01 pm #27171Thanks for the excellent response to my proposal.
This is not “A” drive rather a series of initiatives to train, give responsibilities and groom and nurture future leaders in Dubai offroaders, who will in turn train others so that the cycle continues.
The objective of asking 3 stars to volunteer is essentially because they have already progressed to a level where with a little fine tuning and hand holding they can slip into the roles of a ranger or a Marshal.
So…the current line up is as follows…
3 Stars
Razik, Firoz and Duncan have already been doing and excellent job supporting the drives as 2nd lead and as rescue support and sweep.
2 stars
Denis & Hongbin have been driving very well and need to be re-evaluated for an upgrade, subsequent to which they can be promoted as Rangers or Marshals.
Very Good Naseem!!! Everybody has to start somewhere…Good morning Ahmad and readers, just logged on to DO from afar to find interesting news, I shall add my name to the list of potential applicants for further training.
I’m back in the UAE 29th September and as Ahmad and Saif know I need a vehicle! This will happen in the early days of my return and will be another FJ, perhaps manual this time around.
