Every winching situation has the potential for personal injury. In order to minimize that risk, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the operation of your winch before having to use it, and be constantly safety oriented. In this very useful guide, it is explained many of the basic rules of safe winch operation. However, because every winching situation is different, your constant good judgement and consistent focus on safety are of great importance.

I came across this very useful guide published by Warn Industries and thought of reproducing it here to share with all of you, especially with our dear winchmen :-BD http://www.warn.com/truck/winches/images/1842/62885A6_Domestic-read.pdf

Yes, Saif Bhai. Lots of precautionary measures are to be followed while winching.

What do you mean with that? I am WINCHMAN!!!! :(( Well….I have to say that I was very wrong on one part, and thanks to G., now I know. The winch has more power when is at a longer distance (keeping always a minimum of 5 wraps in the winch). I thought it was the opposite and sometimes using a toe rope to keep the winch rope maximum possible in the winch ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I misunderstood the original instructions. To verify G’s article, I went to Ironman’s one an looks nicer, but says the same basics.
