Manama: More than 100 GCC nationals have approached a Bahraini female lawyer seeking her representation after she won two sex change legal cases.
On Wednesday Lawyer Fawzia Janahi told Gulf News that she has been loaded with sex change cases after the court declared a Bahraini woman as a man in June and finally approved changing her name from Zainab to Hussain on Monday.
The case was Janahi’s second after she won her first sex change case in 2005 that made her the first GCC female lawyer to be specialised in such cases.
“I don’t mind presenting sex change cases if my clients will provide me with medical reports highlighting the need to change their sex,” she highlighted while explaining that the cases vary from male clients who want to become females and women who want to be declared as men.

“Most of the cases require a long time to end and need patience since there are many sex correction operations involved. I started my first case in 2001 and finished it in 2005,” Janahi said. “I received 100 clients from Kuwait, while individuals from UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have approached me and I’m reviewing their cases. I have approved three so far.”

Finally she has hope to have that name on the driving license as well.
