The Farewell Drive – Friday, December 26th 2014

    Meeting Point: The interchange just before Badayer
    Meeting Time: 14:00 hrs
    Drive Start: 14:15 hrs sharp

    Meeting Point Coordinates : 24° 57.913’N, 55° 42.409’E (GPS)

    Drive Route & Terrain: Side Sloping, Ridge Riding, Cresting, Big Dunes, Technical Dunes

    Duration: 3 hours (sundown)

    Let’s say a farewell to 2014 with a nice dune bash starting from the interchange just before Badayer and culminating at Khatam as per plan or to the nearest exit on sundown. We will try to pass by the popular landmarks in the desert and have some fun and photo opportunities.

    Checklist:-

    a) Keep your emergency contact info at vehicle dashboard.
    b) Carry compressor with you and ensure it’s in WORKING condition.
    c) Ensure your 4 x 4 vehicle is in perfect condition and with enough fuel.
    d) Compatible Radio is a must.
    e) Carry all necessary off-road gears / recovery equipment in good condition.
    f) Ensure your Car’s Front and rear Snatch Hooks are perfect in shape.
    g) Child /Booster seats are must for Children below age of 6 inside the car.
    h) Carry enough water / refreshments / re-hydration drinks for self & co-passenger(s).

    This was my first dune-bashing experience. Thanks a lot to Sajid for organising this trip (although I didn’t get to meet him). Thanks to Saif and the other marshals for all the guidance and support provided. Looking forward to the next opportunity to offroad with you all again.

    I hope you enjoyed your maiden drive in the sand. Unfortunately, I could not make it due to personal circumstances.

    I would like to thank Baher, Dennis, Saif and Humayun for stepping in and ensuring that members had their weekly sand fun.
