Hello everyone. I am after some tire advice. I own a Jeep Wrangler and currently have 31×10.5 r15 tires on after market rims. The tires are no good for sand (as I found out on Friday). I am looking to replace these with 245×75 r17 (obviously on 17โ rims).
My question is this… Is it ok to switch the tires and rims without causing any damage to my jeep???
I know this is probably a silly question but thank you in advance.

Hi,
Not a pro on this but honestly speaking you should do a few more drives before deciding to change. I was following you the other day and I feel the problem was that it was just your 1st drive and you were hesitant and were lacking momentum at most of the places you got stuck. It always happens with all of us on first drives. Have some patience and you should do fine. The other day the sand was also very soft as would be case during summer. Anyway, my advice do a few more drives. Understand the car a little more in the sand and decide on the tyres. If u have doubts about the tyres ask one of the Marshals to try out your car in the sand and see if they also struggle in same places where u do. If you have already been advised by one of the Marshals to change the tyres then please ignore this ๐ :))quote JustDen:Your current tyre size is way better than the one you consider shifting to.
What type of tyres do you run? MT, HT, AT?They are AT. They have a snow symbol on the side and I was told that they are more designed for rocks and therefore do not deflate properly for sand. Also due to the tread pattern when stuck in sand they dig deeper.

The main reason for me asking was that one of the marshalls did tell me that my design of tire and tread was wrong for sand anyway and more for rocks.

AT are not too bad as long as below 3 years old. Try deflating down to 12 PSI and keep driving.
If budget and lift allows you can increase the size but keep the rims.
