Topo maps of UAE

    Hi

    Does anyone know if new topography maps of UAE are available anywhere? There is mapstor but the maps are old(2008 edition).

    Hi Saj, there is an SD card map on the market by MASARAT, which says it has topo maps http://www.masarat-gps.com

    Hi Andy

    Thanks for your response. I spoke to their dealer, AMIT and they didn’t have it. I also tried to speak to Adventure HQ(Another dealer) but they could not help me. I guess I need to visit the store and check.

    Hi Saj,

    You can speak to the owner of Masarat – Mr Jihad on +97150 2602001. At times he is not in the country for months so then email him on [email protected]

    They are based in RAK and have an office in Sharjah as well.

    Appreciate if there is any cordinates or maps to them, They are telling the way in a different style so we will not reach there. We need it in DO’s style.

    David, there are also routes on this site which you can paste into Google earth and then on to your phone via MotionX, that app is excellent wheras the Masarat maps are ok but nothing exceptional as the subject matter i.e. dunes is difficult to map. They do show established off-road cross country routes and contours of the the mass of sand. I’m running both and then downloading them onto google earth to visually take in where we’ve been. When one accumulates enough experience, sanding reading skills and drive miles I guess you can use the same tools to plan your led too, now that’s something to map out a route towards 😀
