I have noticed, people pull back from uploading pictures on our website. Maybe simply because they do not understand how to do it. Here is a tutorial on how to upload pictures to our gallery.
Make a folder called Pictures or any name that you would like to give it. For easy understanding, I am using Pictures as the name of my upload folder. Put all the pictures that you want to upload in the folder. Make sure not more than 20 images as the gallery will not let you upload more than 20 images at once. I have set it that to balance the server load.
Right click on the folder and click on “Add to archive…”
It will give you a new window. Name the archive file “Pictures.zip” or “Your choice of name.zip”. You are required to keep it in .zip format as the gallery will not accept .rar format. Then click OK.
You will see your zip file.
Go to the upload image link anywhere on the website and click on it.
You will be presented with a page where you can upload files. Click on the first “Browse” button. It is highlighted in the picture below.
Navigate to your Pictures.zip and select it. Click “Open”.
It will show up as a selected file in your upload image page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Continue”.
Your pictures will be shown as thumbnails and you can edit the image names. Once, you are done, click on “Submit”.
A page which tells you that your images have been added successfully will show up.
That’s it. Your pictures will show up in our recent pictures and in our gallery. That was not so hard now. Was it? Questions or doubts are welcome.

The maximum image size in pixels is 1280×1024. If the images are bigger than 1280×1024 pixels, then it will resize the pictures.
@Satwinder: No, my tutorial assumes everyone has winzip installed, which as far as I know is a default installation in windows. Rar files will not be accepted by the gallery as they are disabled. There are still bugs in the gallery which I am working on. Once am done, the gallery will be able to upload and show pictures like facebook.
March 25, 2012 at 5:14 pm #16356She is displaying images now in a manner which is more eye candy than facebook! I am still working on the script to select multiple images. But it might take some time. Ganesh, I don’t seem to have any trouble uploading images. Have you tried again?
March 26, 2012 at 10:40 am #16363quote Ganesh:The total size of the zip folder is 64 MB for 20 pictures….is that the reason for failure…may be its too big..64MB? How big are the pictures? Please make all the pictures 1280×1024 or less. And then zip the folder and see the size. That is a lot of memory usage to ask from the server.
March 26, 2012 at 10:56 am #16365quote Ganesh:Ok Sir…will reduce the size and try to upload it again….thanks Hamza..I can make the size larger, but I don’t want the server to crash :-p
Then there will be a lot of work for me to do ๐
