Vehicles that have accumulated traffic fines over Dh5,000 will be impounded in accordance with UAE Federal Traffic Law, reported ‘Al Khaleej’.
Traffic departments and seizure officials are entitled to impound vehicles if the accumulated fines exceed Dh5,000 and the owner fails to pay the fines after being notified, said Colonel Saif Al Mazroui, Director, Dubai Traffic.
Similarly, motorists who fail to register vehicles within the notice period will also be impounded, he said.
Col Al Mazroui, who was speaking on the radio programme ‘Al Rabea Wa Al Nas’, said vehicle owners have a grace period of two months to renew the registration of the vehicle after its expiration.
Looks like the sharjah impound lot is going to run out of space soon!
