Mountain Drive to the highest Mountain top in the UAE
IT IS STILL COLD UP THERE…The temprature at the the top is typically about 15 degrees C lower than that in the plains…
Some of may still remember the pictures of snowfall from a couple of years back in the winters.
The peak is off limits due to a Military installation but we can still climb upto close to 5000 feet!!! rendering Panoramic views over the sorrounding mountain tops as well as giving access to numerous hiking trails strewn across the hillsides.
The terrrain varies between rocky Mountain passes as well as waterfilled wadis some of which makes for tricky driving on this trail due to deep water pools immediately after the rains.
The distance to the entry point for the trail is about 110 Kms. from Dubai while the trail actually consists of about 36Kms. of Paved & 39 Kms. of unpaved Roads.
The trail is steep with a number of Hairpin bends calling for some adventurous exciting Off Road Fun.
The drive is mostly over hard tracks so it will be a very good family outing.
EVERYBODY IS WELCOME.The meeting point for those coming in from Dubai will be the Enoc petrol station immediately after the Dragon Mart exit on to the Emirates Road towards Sharjah (North), departing at 10 00Hrs. Sharp.

55.23’52 00EThe meeting point for those coming in from Sharjah will be Emarat Petrol station immediately after the Tasjeel on the Emirates Road immediately after the Airport Exit towards Ajman (North), departing at 10 30Hrs. Sharp.

April 4, 2010 at 5:44 am #12715The date is 9th of April ‘2010.
The drive is not very difficult & can be handled by anybody with little or no off road driving experience.
It will be a very nice family outing.
I would love to stay back & have a BBQ but would want to avoid driving back in the dark so I am afraid we will have to head back out.
We will have Lunch at the Mountain top so please carry food for self/ companions + 20% extra, as usual.April 4, 2010 at 7:37 am #12719Is that a compliment? ๐ ๐ ๐
Thanks Adeel Bhai.
I realized that maybe not everyone is interested in Sand driving only…exciting as it may be, that’s why I am trying to stir up some variety.
Remember we had an exciting date with the White Lions a couple of weeks back…
I am not fantasizing…The views really are spectacularly breathtaking…
