    The report :

As we saw the earlier posts from all…..each one of us were too excited for the long drive for the whole day…..Even though Satvinder thought it would be another road trip ๐Ÿ˜€ , it wasn’t…..

We all gathered at the meeting point (Adnoc – Al Faqaa) at 8.45a.m…..The lead – Tushar himself was so exited that he reached there at 8 am….One of our new offroader (sorry I dnt know his name), wanted to join us in this drive without registering, Tushar explained him the difficulty level of the drive and gave him two options – either he can join anyone of us as a passenger orelse he can join the newbee drive which was to happen in the afternoon…. We are too sorry for him….but each one of us should understand the reason if you are not allowed to participate….its only for your safety…..Dubai Offroaders Club always believes in safety first…….

We were delayed for 15 minutes as Satvinder joined a bit late, and then proceeded towards the deflation point after a bit of road drive ๐Ÿ˜€ ….Tushar gave us a short description about the plan for the day’s drive and as the convoy numbers were already in the initial post…it was lined up the same way…..It was nice to see Rob with the new look ๐Ÿ˜‰ ……Tushar was the lead, followed by Saif, then all the other drivers and towards the end were Satu, Abdullah and Mr. Sultan in his Merc…..I should say the entire convoy of 11 cars with the best of the lead and sweep and the most experienced drivers (hehehehehe….even i count myself in this ๐Ÿ˜€ )

The drive started with alll the tricks and turns, short and tall dunes on an absolute soft sandy area. Within no time….the winch man (Rob) had a pop out and was recovered in seconds…..After that the drive was in a good pace and then our dear Mehul was having the most nightmare of his day…..he got stuck and was pulled later on…..Then Rob got stuck in a bad position and was pulled by Abdullah and with the expert advice from Satvinder…..

Tushar was very keen to reach at the particular point where we had planned to have the lunch at 12.30, but due to some stuckups and rescue, we were getting delayed. So the lead changed his plan and decided to have the lunch session below the sand mountain….

As we were proceeding further, Mehul got stuck in a small pocket and was pulled out by Rob with his winch….within seconds later, to add salt to the wound, he got a pop-out….The lead and his 3-4 followers had to reach back to the point and we spent a bit of time to recover him…..The winch man was required again to pull him out as the pop-out couldnt have been sorted out in that position….

After that the lead and the sweep Marshal (Abdullah) decided to change the convoy numbers so that the drive can be bit safer….and hats off to Abdullah to keep monitoring the convoy positions and continuously instructing the convoy to maintain their position….Great work Sir :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: .

Satvinder was trying all his techniques and skills to cross some tall dunes and got rested on the crest twice…..many had different opinions about this part….(pls check the comments on fb :)) :)) :)) )

We reached at our new lunch point under a tree shade and everyone took out their lunch packs….Thanks to Satvinder for his parathas…….and secondly special thanks to Rahul for getting the portable gas and served us some amazing hot parathas with green chutney and pickles… :thanks: Rahul for everything…….

Then we had some rest at that point and then Tushar explained us about the remaining drive which would be more challenging as we will be facing some real tall dunes with plenty of soft bowls and pockets……and it was exactly as mentioned…..We reached the sand mountain area which was really soft and one cannot really halt for some time as the sand was very very soft and the car could sink…..Each one of tried their best to reach on the top …and then after playing there for some time…..we moved ahead and went behind the sand mountain which was really too big and looked like a huge mountain……..

Then the next point to reach was the Old lady mountain and before reaching there we stopped at a point which was on the top of a very tall dune….which is now named as “The Ronin Point” :)) :)) ……we relaxed there for a while, in the meantime Abdullah was trying all his effort to reach on the top……tried 3-4 attempts and then we proceeded further…..
The best part was to come down from the dune…….The drop was just amazing and with the guidance of all the marshals we had, each one of us came down with ease one by one…….

We were reaching the Old lady Dunes and then Mehul again got stuck and then was recovered…..At one point my car just sunk in the sand and i made every attempt to come out, but was in vain….Abdullah came to rescue and tried to pull me out, but was not happening….then Mr. Sultan pulled me out with his mercedes….

Everyone drove amazingly well…..Saif ofcourse we know is a wonderful driver…..Ashok was at his best…..Rob can pat himself for driving so well……Suri – the best in self recovery……..Rahul with his stock wrangler was too good…..Mehul drove really well apart from his bad luck at sometimes…..No need to say anything about Satvinder, Abdullah and Mr. Sultan…….they are the best at their job of offroading as always….

We then reached our final point before the sunset and then proceeded towards the exit point and touched the road exactly at 5.45p.m. as perfectly scheduled by the lead marshal.

Now finally a bit of thanksgiving session :

Thanks a ton Tushar for the excellent lead, specially for planning the entire route and giving us the wonderful challenging experience….. ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^

Thanks to Abdullah and Mr. Sultan for the wonderful sweep and for proving their best offroading expertise and advise to all the participants…. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Saif….you were just awesome in every part….. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

A big thanks to all the participants to maintain their convoy positions throughout the drive…. :ymapplause:

Finally Satvinder…..thank u for all the help provided by you for the rescue operations and also for the tasty parathas…… :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug:

Overall…….a great day to remember in the books of Dubai Offroaders…… :drive:

See you all soon for the “Grand Movie Night” on thursday…Come one come all and let us make it a grand evening……

    Cheers….. :drive:

Great Report Ganesh !!!! :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

It was indeed a day to remember and definately one of the best drives of the season thus far…..i’m sure I can safely say it was fantastic first time expirience for a good number of us to visit “SIR SAND MOUNTAIN” and the dunes from there on towards Al Ain Airport.

The initial pace was slighly slower than we had planned but certain situations can not be avoided especially when the sand is that soft and unforgiving. It was a start……stop adventure for the first couple of hours with stucks, pop-out and the ingredients for a challenging expedition. Most participants would agree that their skills and ability’s were put to the test.

Ronin’s inital plan for a scenic lunch at Al Gaftin had to be aborted, and we compromised to head straight towards “SIR SAND MOUNTAIN” where we had lunch, big :thanks: guys for all the delicious food. Special shout out to Rahul for the live cooking. Rahul is gonna have to be a pre-requisite for all our camping trips, might have to give him DO’s mastercheif title ๐Ÿ˜•

Skipping Al Gaftin enabled the convoy plenty of time to savour the main section and most exciting section of the drive. I suppose the break re-juvinated us and by the time we left “SIR SAND MOUNTAIN” all drivers had found their element and appaered charged up. hats off to each and everyone of us as post lunch the drive was even more tricky but surprise surprise there were fewer stucks with good pace and we actually managed to find time to stop chit chat and enjjoy the break-taking views.

As everyone has mentioned again and again FANTASTIC WORK TUSHAR !!!!!……After your intense prep work I was pretty sure it was gonna be a great :drive: ……but the Final outcome even surpassed my expectations ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^

Awesome sweep work Mr Abdullah, Mr Sultan & Mr Satwinder. :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Suri, you never fail to amaze me with your never give up self recovery approach ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Rob, Ashok, Ganesh, Mehul, Rahul you guys drove like champions ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^

I would strongly recommend a re-visit at some point this season to allow some of our other senior members that were un-able to join us on Friday to expirience this fantastic area.

    :thanks:

    Recovering Rob….

    quote Tushar:

Something everyone, including myself will cherish for a long time! The drive started out with a small search for an entry point to the sands, the initial 25 kms of the planned stretch was expected to be a little ‘dirty’(pun intended), being laced with bushes and short bowls right after you climbed steep inclines. It was clear to most of the drivers immediately that this was not ‘Pink/Fossil/Camel Rocks/Iftar bowl/Pyramids’ anymore, the drive was eased up because of excellent sweep support by Satwinder, Abdulla, Sultan & Yousef – technical aspects/difficulties taught to members on the go!

The use of almost all recovery equipment could be learnt by the keen observer on this drive- which included High lift Jacks, Hydraulic Jacks, Snatch Straps ( Kinetic Ropes), Winch (Courtsey Winchman), A/C Compressor for inflation(Courtsey Satwinder).

There were times when Saif remarked in a very humourous way “Sir Sand Mountain is challenging us to come over if we had any B***s left” ๐Ÿ˜‰
The convoy certainly did prove that wrong after the lunch break, to my surprise all the LWBs were actually driving very well in the Softer sands and split wheel crests. Saif and Suri were like 2 special ops. commandos escorting me along the dunes all the way – felt safe and felt strong having you guys back me up!
