WOW! That’s a great feeling, to move up to intermediate level. I have no word to thank the dedicated DO team. We the new joiners really owe you a lot for coaching in a discrete way to take on the challenges of desert drive. THANK YOU DO.
Thanks Faheem and all of DO team for organising this this trip and Joe and John for other marshals who were with the fewbie convoy. It was an eventful day with internal and external recoveries, pop outs etc. Thanks Joe once again for going further after sun down for the night drive. Each drive is bringing in new experiences and hoping to get enough confidence to drive like a pro.
Thank you Joe and John and all of DO team for this memorable drive. Joe took us through some of the challenging tracks but all were able follow him. Minor hiccups didn’t discourage the teams spirit and we carried on having fun until sun down. Hoping to join the fun soon.
:thanks: What a pleasant surprise. That for sure has cheered me up. Thanks Faheem and all those DO founders and dedicated volunteers who give up their valuable time and energy so that others can have a good time. Anxiously waiting for the next drive, though it may come late due my shift work. Congratulations to all the new privates.
Learnt a great lesson today. Never to go for the desert drive when fasting. I was eager to join this drive as next few weeks I won’t be able to join due shift work. I nearly passed out just after a tricky recovery. Possibly due dehydration. Broke the fast and drank lots of water and had some sugar fix too. Many thanks to Yohan, Abdallah , Avinash and Matthew. I rested nearly 45 mins after Abdallah drove me to safety before I drove home. Lesson learnt the hard way. My experience today proved that DO is a great fraternity.
Thank you Ahmed , Joe and Faheem for the great drive. Joe took us through challenging tracks and was learning all the way. The rain and thunder made the day more memorable. Thanks Ahmed for passing your wisdom on desert drive. Thanks Joe for the pop out recovery lesson. It was done fast and with precision. Thanks Faheem for letting me drive at the revised position . Looking forward to the next adventure. See you then.
Thanks DO team for the great drive. It was good to be back in action after a break . Hoping to join you whenever possible when i am off shift. .
Dear DO team,
As a shift worker, I rarely get the chance to go for the desert drive. I have been waiting for this day as this one was special for the so called newbies. But something urgent and unavoidable has come through and I have to pull out of this trip. with the great line up you have Inshah Allah it is going to be great day. I am going to miss that. Hoping to join you soon for a day of fun.
Regards,
Abdrahman.
Hi DO team,
Wanted to join every trip but shift job and vacation kept me away.
I have done only one trip with DO but has done several desert trips.
Hoping to join you in the fun.
Thanks Ash for the link. All 14 channels now stored. Ready for the next trip.
Thank you Sajid, Baher the founder Ahmed and his sons and all the DO team for this wonderful drive, your hospitality and the willingness to teach others. The drives across the slopes was not something I had mastered but the by following the convoy and watching others I could negotiate them. I indeed learned a lot in this trip and the feeling I had when we finished was I need to have more of this. Inshah Allah would like to join you guys whenever I can but my constraint is I work in shifts and offs on Fridays and Saturdays comes on rotation. Hoping to see you guys soon , hopefully on 06th and 07th if any drives planned on Saturday.
If I can get all the radio channels and frequencies , i could configure mine.
If it is not possible to be posted here, I will write it down on my next trip. :thanks:
Was the course any good?. Did you get much out of it?[/quote]
Hi Ashraf. The course is good for a beginner. they start with a class room theory session . they covered the technical aspects of 4 wheel drives, basic rules for desert driving and survival techniques. They took us to Nazwa and showed how they drive and then hands on including recoveries. Overall it was good. They take 2 persons in one car and together costs 1100. for single it is 600.They exchange the driver a the lunch time, lunch on the house. If someone want the whole day alone it costs 1100 too.
though I have become a member 2 months back, I haven’t done a drive with Dubai Off roaders. I have done around 10 trips with friends and I also did a full day course with Emirates driving institute. Looking forward to meeting the Dune Stars and learn few tricks from the experts.I need to be back by night so, I can’t join for the camp.
