Fantastic drive with Asim this past Friday.
A nice variety of dunes, technical spots, soft sand, larger climbs. The pace picked up during the 2nd half of the drive from 2nd December to Badayer shops as the convoy shrunk when some left to go home.
Don’t remember your name Sweep but thanks for your patience.
Until next time.

I can add that although a steel bumper is great for frontal protection, but for what we use our cars here in the middle east…it’s overkill. You need decent underbody protection (bash plate/ transmission guard)
I have a full steel bumper and winch which adds a good 150kg (easily) to the front of the car but I do travel a fair bit with it.
Started off in the fewbie convoy but with engine overheating issues which I hadn’t seen before, it was decided that I’d join the newbie group. Took it a lot easier and had the heater on for parts of the drive to keep the engine cool. Seems like the viscous coupling for the radiator fan isn’t working properly so need to get that looked at ASAP
All in all was a decent drive, especially with a snapped rear swaybar.
Until next time.

Trip report (Joe convoy)
Well paced drive from Faqaa to Badayer Friday afternoon with Joe as lead. Lots of side cresting and some technical dunes which are always a bit of a challenge. A couple of second attempts but all in all no real issues.

Started the drive at Al Hayer near the petrol station and ended up at Al Faqaa. Soft sand and some technical approaches meant that we had a few second tries but no real dramas (no pop-out luckily) . I did however think that clear coms was somewhat lacking as well as distance between cars within the convoy, especially towards the back of the convoy. Thanks to the Marshals to the track.
Stay safe on the sand.
The morning drive started off with 13 cars meeting just north of Nazwa with a route planned to take us to 2nd December and then down to Badayer via pink rock and big red. A nice calm route was plotted by @matthewficco with no major issues had by anyone.
Once we got to Big Red, the group split into a smaller convoy of 4 cars comprised of @Rocklad, @Dr.Knockers, @Paul_FJCruiser and myself with the aim to drive around Badayer for 40 minutes and then head back to inflate.
Below is the route for both tracks:

2nd Drive with Dubai Offroaders this time starting from Al Faqaa heading due west and exiting south to a road that leads back to Al Faqaa.
A fairly large newbie convoy tackled some tricky small sharp dunes as well as long sweeping dunes. A nice mix. Luckily we had no pop-outs during the drive but our fair share of stucks.
Stay safe on the sand.

It was interesting to try another club and to join the newbie crew.
Started the track at cup club cafe and headed south past iftar bowl and then to super bowl before turning back and heading to the farms. Driving conditions were made more difficult towards the end of the drive by churned up tracks from all the traffic around super bowl as well as fading light.
All were at the re-inflation point by around 7.30pm if I’m not mistaken. As expected during a total newbie drive, lots of 2nd attempts, stucks, and a couple of popout but all-in-all, I think that everyone drove well and had learnt a fair bit by the end of the drive.
Good job to @Sash716, @Frankyno and @Asim for Lead, 2nd Lead and floating Sweep. Patience of Saints!
Stay safe on the Sand
