Thanks Saif for the professional lead of the Fewbie convoy, and special thanks for appointing me as a Sweep for the first time! ๐ :yesss: It was great opportunity to experience the drive from a different point of view. Obviously it requires more attention, responsibility and skills, tried to do my best, but there is more to learn. Even got stuck once in the soft sand โ itโs pretty scary in the back, when no one’s around :-ss :p , but fortunately help arrived and got the pull.
It was a joyful drive, through a pretty nice track to the Pink Rock, then back to Badayer. We covered long distance, had side-sloping, crest-crossing, high dunes, some routine recoveries, nice windy weather everything whatโs needed for a perfect Friday afternoon drive.
Thanks Saif and fellow DOers for the Fun Drive, see u next time! :ymhug:
:drive:
I’m glad to see a similar drive to the last week’s one, which I had to quit right at the deflation point ๐ My radiator/AC fan got broken on the way to the meeting point, resulted some crazy shaking in the whole car, since part of the broken fan was touching other parts under the hood . We have improvised a temporary solution (Thanks Denis & Razik! :ymhug: ) by disconnecting and removing the whole fan (fortunately just 2 bolts ๐ ) but after that my coolant temperature started to increase drastically. Did not want to take the risk to attend the drive without fan, proper cooling, and AC; considering personal safety, the car’s health, and the possible impact on the fellow drivers, if the car stops in the middle of desert.
Managed to drive home safely without major overheating with couple of stops and “cool-downs”…
The new fan is on the way, hopefully fixing will be done during the week so I will try my luck again this Friday ๐
what to say… another “Jeep thing” :ymdevil: ๐
See you all in Khatam

After several detailed drive report, there is not much to say. The drive was just fantastic ๐ :ymapplause: Enjoyed every minutes, together with my passenger! ๐
Just want to add few words, from newbies perspective. Marshal Saif did a great job to adjust the routes to the participants’ skills, we all had a wonderful time, on an action-packed drive.
The 3 marshals were supportive all the way and shared their experience in various stations, which were for me very valuable lessons:
1, Simple recovery from a crest stuck, and how to avoid it.
2, Myself got stock during an ascend when lost the power in soft sand โ Khalil took my seat, and with a little maneuver in 4Low self-recovered easily. โ Taught me when to use 4Low, and not to forget switching off AC during dune bashing!! ๐ฎ :((
3, Winching Techniques by Marshal Kumar
4, Quick Pop-out fixing by Marshal Saif & Khalil
5, And how to attack Iftar Bowl, and eventually how to get out ๐
Thanks again to the Marshals for their helpful attitude, and to the fellow drivers for their company on the ghost drive :ymdevil:
See you on the next one ๐
Norbert
wow, the Ghost Town, another thrilling destination! wouldnโt miss it! ๐ (However have to rush back to the city by evening, so will skip the BBQ & camping ๐ )
Thanks to the Marshals for providing this variety of drives and fun week on week, to let the newbies learn and experience, and to explore this country. I wouldnโt thought the desert can bring so much joy in our life! now I know, thanks to DOโs for this!! ๐ ๐ ๐
See you all on Friday
Norbert
Iโm still a blue driver, but would love to go with the convoy for this challenging trip. Therefore I ask for permission from the Marshals to join :ymblushing: ๐
Will do my best to keep up with the newly promoted Privates! But If itโs strictly purple drive, I truly understand, will practice on the learners drives further to get the first star :p
Cheers

What a great afternoon drive!! :ymhug: Thank you Ganesh for leading the newbie convoy through this amazing landscape. This was the best (among the four Iโve completed ๐ ) drive I had so far, touching different landmarks of our desert. I had the first sights of really high dunes, the beauty of the Fossil & Camel Rocks and the surrounding area, descending from the Fall..etc. Thanks for this experience! The route was suitable and manageable for newbies, and let us feel and learn how our car behaves.
As already mentioned above we had a serious stuck at Camel rock, and due to the steep dune, bad angle of the car, and the nearby rocks made the recovery very difficult and time consuming. Our Marshal, the team members, and an outsider helper handled the situation with great skills so the vehicle was recovered without any harm. :yesss: Another learning experience. :ymhug:
The convoy was well organized, everyone following the disciplines, and doing their best to make this drive memorable. It was for me, and for my passenger for sure ๐
Looking forward for the next challenges
:thanks: again and see u soon!

Hi Ganesh,

And anyway we have to make the most of the remaining few weekends of the desert season ๐
See u on friday! :yesss:
