Congrats Baher ! You deserve it Bro :ymhug: :ymhug:
Congrats to other DOers as well whose stars have started shining ๐ Good luck and safe driving :ymapplause:
Hi Razik,
I am fully with you. I myself have few torrent downloaded apps. It could be a downloaded version and I am pretty ok with that as long as it serves my purpose and at a price lower than the regular one. In fact thanks to our mutual friend in Shahama ( Name deliberately withheld) who helped me out with the installation which is working fine and I am happy with that.
The product could be a Sonapur version or a Deira version but it has to be stated so. Because, as a consumer, when I pay for a product, I have every right to know the legitimacy of the product. Right ? Hence my query to Amith as to whether he is sourcing ( sourcing the map as a bulk purchase where volume of economies come into play and at a price or if he is sharing the downloaded ones either free or for a price ๐ ๐ )
Lets have even better fun this year.
Shall Catch up with you guys sooner as its gonna be a long time since I have driven with my friends in DO.
Happy New Year to all !!
Thanks Amith for the initiative. Just for my understanding,is it the genuine one or the one like preinstalled versions which is available in Deira?
You have to do the drive update yourself.
As for the upgrade … this is determined by the marshals based on your driving skills and not on the number of drives you’ve done.
I would tell you to DRIVE FOR FUN , the rest will just happen …
Well put Iqsaan and its PRECISELY my point as well.
One should indulge in a passion which gives you the satisfaction, happiness rather than the recognition.
If one should start driving for the possible stars and cubes and squares and badges and colors , then I think the FUN FACTOR could well be lost and it could be detrimental to the objective of off roading itself.
Lets drive , just for fun :yesss: :ymhug: :ymhug:
If it show the maps when you switch it on to navigate, then obviously the maps are there.
Its logical as none would be connecting to a computer while driving off road ๐ and as long as the device is displaying the map for us to navigate , problem solved.
However,Ahmed sb, am asking this out of curiosity : In case we were to plot a route or create a waypoint on the map and transfer way points to & fro to device & com, dont we need the map to show on the computer ( Mapsource etc)? Or is there a way around to accomplish these tasks ?
Kindly elaborate at your convenience. Am sure this will benefit many novices, including yours truly.
Most everybody showed up only 1 no show, a mechanical problem saw Baher take the precaaution of leaving his Pajero at the deflation point. This was a wise decision as a problem is easy to deal with on the flt with road access, however the same possible minor problem in the desert might be a hugely different story, so well done Baher for making the decision you made.
Well Today our convoys set off for Tawi Nazwa via all the rocks Fossil Camel and Pink, with little difficulty the first objective was gained, part of the convoy went to the East with Humayun and the other went west.
Amidst stunning vistas and the craggy outcrops of the mountain back drop we proceed towards Al Faya up over and around all that we encountered. Full marks to Rein at sweep you counselled a few of our number in the art of crossing the dunes. Duncan at second lead did a splendid job of keeping the convoy on track and intact.
We dallied a few minutes at the base of the saddle to watch the locals at play before crossing the tarmac and continuing our route towards Pink Rock.
Using the farm tracks and cutting across the dunes we made excellent time to the Tawi Mahila road and crossed the final section of blacktop for the short few kilometres to the Pink rock pass. Here a few of our number were challenged by the softer more intricate dunes at the base of the climb, as they were further up by the oncoming traffic through the Pink Rock pass. Suffice to say that we all regrouped at the base and a few drivers tested themselves and their rides of the face of Pink Rock.
As the sun descended toward the horizon we set off on the last leg both groups as one convoy, Humayun riding shot gun and ReIn faithfully continuing at the sweep position. By this stage the drivers had been challenged a few times, however the DO staff decided to push the level up a little to allow the group to challenge themselves further. This they did and I have to report that every member of our small group of humanity did exceedingly well..and congrats to all participants for a really good drive
:thanks: go to Duncan, Rein, Humayun , Hendrik, Baher, Ben, Alex, Mustafa who did a sterling job driving for our second sweep Baher, Pat29 Ibrahim and the Dr aka offroad and to everybody else that participated in this
JUST FOR FUN :drive: see you for the next one ๐ ๐

Hi Razik : Congrats dear
Would request you to consider slightly longer drive duration as in my humble opinion 2 hours ,especially for newbie isnt sufficient.
I hope this feedback is taken in the right spirit. :ymhug:
You are right Sundar…these late drives are essentially to avoid the heat…but we will start posting longer drives as the weather improves…which is actually happening now.
:yesss: :ymhug:
Request to Optimus Prime
