Felt great after a longish time out of the sands. Volunteered to be part of the Learners drive which was ably lead by Brian with Sanjay at the sweep. I am sure the new/few learnt a lot from the drive. Drive started at Khatam around 3 and ended at Al Faya around 5:30. Thanks Brian and Sanjay for an excellent day out and thanks to Ahmed bhai for organizing the drive.
Will be going for Umrah next weekend. So will be out for the next few drives. Till then drive safe everyone.
Superb Intermediate level drive lead by Aemi with Humayoon at sweep. A total of 52 kms on the sand with an average speed of 22 km/hr itself shows the speed of the convoy. Superb track crafted by Aemi with lots of side sloping, side cresting and the lot.
The convoy reached Al Faya where the festivities amongst the 4×4 enthusiasts was ongoing. A slight tricky situation with Zakariya and a driver from another group resulted in him getting stuck in a bowl. However that was quickly sorted out and we were on our way to Pink Rocks.
Convoy reached Pink Rocks at around sunset and then from there Night Drive till Badayer. We stopped half way along the route to have the delicious watermelon bought by Aemi. A few minutes rest and then off we went to our final destination – Big Red.
As we got closer to Big Red, the sand was getting softer and softer since it was pulverized with the evening festivities here as well. We finally made it around Bid Red and up from the other side.
Drive ended at 7:35pm with a short drive along the tracks to Tawi Nazwa where we filled up the tires, had a couple of karaks, got some advice from the seniors and off we went back home.
There were only 2 stucks during the entire drive which were quickly and tactfully handled by sweeping marshal Humayoon and a couple of second attempts (mostly by me 🙂 ).
TO sum it up, great drive with some great company in some great weather.
:thanks: Khalid bhai and Humayoon for the drive and :thanks: Ahmed bhai for organizing it.
