Superb drive yesterday. Particularly loved going over the top of the mountain! Only ruined slightly by some fool locking himself out of his car….. sorry about that #-o
But a big :thanks: to everyone that helped dismantle my Wrangler. Next weekend I may take up fishing. It seems I am quite good at that 😉
For the benefit of others, I had originally bought the china compressor that every is talking about. First time using it and filled up each tire one after the other in quick succession. It ended up getting so hot that the hose started to melt and eventually it popped. In hindsight, a small break between tires to let it cool down a bit might have helped the situation (as would have avoiding a cheap Chinese brand).
Great work Joe. First person I meet within Dubai Offroaders, made me feel welcome straight away and still one of the most genuine friendly and helpful guys around!
……and he is one hell of a driver of course :drive:
Wow, what a drive yesterday….. Joe, you smashed it as lead Marshall for us Newbies. It was challenging but most definitely rewarding. I couldn’t believe the variation in sand and how it affected the drive, but learnt soo much from it.

Really was fantastic! As a first timer we were quickly welcomed into the group, could see how impeccably organised it was, appreciated how patient the marshals (and other drivers) were, but most importantly felt safe yet had an exhilarating and testing time. The amount I learned from the day was enough to fill a book or two I think.
If you couldn’t tell, I think I have got the “bug”, so see you all again soon. 😀 😀

Neale – I also got a compressor yesterday from ACE hardware in Festival City, it’s the Bushranger Black Maxx which is mentioned on the forum and their current price is AED 699.
I still need to get a flag and a mounting – do any of the experienced DO’s have advice on what to get and where to get it? The Dragonmart shop mentioned in the forum for suction cups doesn’t seem to exist anymore, and I think I saw a forum post saying you can use a Carrefour fishing rod for the flag, but is this really the best way?
The other thing I haven’t got yet is a tow rope – the Viking one mentioned in the forums seems to have been discontinued so I’m on the lookout for an alternative. Again, any suggestions would be welcome – is this a necessity for Friday, or can we rely on the marshalls to have them?

you are more than welcome to join us for the drive as a beginner and yet enjoy it.
this trip will not be of a hardcore nature as much as an adventure fun drive, with the possibility of having a separate convoy of more advanced nature towards the end at the dunes 🙂
here at DO we have different levels of driving through which members gradually move up according to their performance. you will start off with the newbie group until the marshals feel its safe enough for you to move up a level.
please make sure to carry all the necessary offroad gear mentioned on the forum and register for this drive.
