Related to the above question, Zarir bhai if the map is installed on your device it should show up on basecamp similar to the basemap. How would you go about planning a route if you do not have a map installed? What is the purpose of basecamp in this case? only to transfer data, which I do not seem to understand. I have also been trying to get the map to show up on basecamp but in vain. I’m able to see the map on the device but when you plug the device to laptop you cannot see the city navigator map.img file, which is surprising. Would request someone with a little more knowledge as I’m new to this to help.

You will have to register your map product on the Garmin website first.

We all met at the designated meeting point at Khatam, deflated and hit the dunes finally targeting the Big Red at Badayer. It was a exciting drive that was lead by Marshal Ahmad with Duncan as his second lead.

The convoy consisted of Newbees & Fewbees, it was nice to see Shawana, Leo, Sajid and the driver driving the black jeep gaining their confidence as the drive progressed. The plans were to end the drive at the Devil’s plunge but due to the time available we extended it to the Big Red. This was possible because all the drivers managed the fast pace and drove without any major incidents, a few second attempts and convoy kept going.

Good back up support from Duncan (2nd lead), David, Rakesh and at the rear, excellent support by Razik who kept the information flowing to the leads on the progress of the convoy.

Thanks to all the participants who joined the drive, drove well and ending the drive safely.

    Have a good week ahead.

Saturday morning…was a morning of adrenaline filled one; all because of Khalil, as the lead marshal had organised an excellent drive and lead us to a fun filled ”on the toes’’ drive sequence. :drive:

After meeting at the designated spot, Khalil, Kumar, Musbah, Carl and myself drove to the deflation point where we hit the sands at Al Faqaa. Musbah in 2nd lead, lead us thru the path carved by Khalil, constantly warning us of all the hidden surprises. 😮 Kumar in the sweep position always kept a watchful eye on the convoy. No words can describe the perfect execution of Khalil and Kumar while they are on the sands.

The drive in general was fast paced and demanded full control in terms of reflexes and vehicle control over the countless steep crests, side slopes, tricky bowls…It was a pleasure to drive again in such a wonderful company. Carl and Musbah as usual were in full control of their machines. :ymapplause:
Thanks to Musbah, Carl and not the least to Khalil and Kumar for making this drive a fun filled and ending it safely. Hoping to drive again with you all again.
    Have a wonderful week
