If this has slowly developed over time, your first point of call is a wheel alignment as that is the most likely culprit. If you’ve been doing some off-roading recently on rocks / wadi terrain or you’ve been bogged down in the sand a bit and steering left and right to get out, this will likely affect wheel alignment over time. Future Tyres in Al Quoz are a good place to go and they know what they are doing – keep in mind they charge about AED 350 but you may be able to bargain a bit down to AED 300. Tell them about the steering wobble first so they know what to look for. Don’t go into the main office if you’re allergic to cigarette smoke – it’s a chimney in there!

Hi Kan,
Glad to see you are prepared for Friday. To answer some of your questions:
1. There are plenty of videos online but honestly, the best preparation is come with an open and calm mind. First drives are always at a relaxed pace and the best way to learn is by doing, which the flying marshals will help you and talk you through the steps via radio if you get into a tricky bit. Never be shy to ask!
2. Each convoy will have a WhatsApp group where the radio channel will be communicated. You should be added to the WhatsApp group for your particular convoy tonight / tomorrow morning.
3. We usually try to finish our drives by around 1800 or 1830 so we should be out of the sand before sunset. Always a good idea to bring a torch just in case.
4. Closed shoes. The sand is hot and just walking up a soft dune for 5 meters can burn your feet if you’re in flip flops. A hat and sunscreen are also a good thing to have. I always recommend taking re-fillable flasks for water in order to minimize our impact on the environment with plastic waste (assuming you have a water dispenser at home). The vacuum flasks are great as they keep your water cold for up to a day.
Hope you will enjoy the drive and see you tomorrow!
Tom
