Great thanks for the info man, i’ll contact him directly.
Hey bud, just gonna throw my 2cents in.
For the choice between 15 and 17inch rims it’s mostly up to you. I’ve never use 15inch rims so I can’t say what the pros/cons might be, with the exception of less weight since 15inch rims will probably be lighter.
Either way without a lift the max recommended diameter size is i think 32 or 33 inchs on the 17inch stock rims, size might be different for 15inch rims. I don’t think it’ll be any different but not sure about this. But I personally think something less than 32inch would be better, less risk of hitting during big bumps on the dunes.
Without adding a wheel spacer i think the widest tire size you can fit is 275’s as Ahmad mentioned. Any wider you’ll rub the tire during turning and such.As far as the brand goes there are a few good ones. Coopers are nice, I have a st maxx LT (Light Truck) model. The threads are pretty aggressive, good for mud and snow but i got a nice deal one them so went for it.
some other brands: BF Goodrich AT, Yokohama Geolandar AT. There’s a brand Duncan told me about once called Kumho, chinese brand i think which makes them cheaper, as far as i remember he was happy with them though they were still new, not sure if that happiness lasted or not lolThe cooper AT3s are good according to reviews and what not. They are less aggressive than mine for sure. I’ve heard a lot of people say geolanders and BF goodrich are really good.
I don’t know if regular tire shops carry these tires so if you can’t find them best option might be check different 4×4 garages/stores. I need to change my tires soon as well so i should start looking too lol
@edeg1972 you don’t really need a mechanic hehe just that when i first did it I didn’t know what the problem was so i took it to one. It’s easily doable just have to be super careful with the hot radiator especially opening it.
@Ankit Ya for me it started about the same time. Took the car for service and they told me I had a problem with the radiator so they changed it under warranty. A week after I started getting the heating issues and i noticed it because the fan would go into overdrive and was very loud. There is a liquid specifically for radiators which you can add (completely optional but not necessary).
Funny enough it’s called “Water Wetter” lol
It basically reduces the friction between the water molecules so air bubbles don’t form or something like that. I’ve only read about this chemical and haven’t used it personally, just something to look into for the future.@Ankit Hey bud, sorry to hear about the heating problem. Is it your radiator temp that’s going up? or something else? I ask because i had an issue with the radiator temp going up at low speeds even when i’m not pushing the truck. It heated up (above the middle line) even if i was standing still.
If you’re having the same issue then most probably there is air trapped in your radiator which makes it harder to cool. It’s an easy fix. Just go to any gas station that have a lube/mechanic station and tell them the radiator is heating up a lot. What they should do is remove the radiator cap, let the car run for a bit and keep filling it with water to get all the air out. After that it shouldn’t heat up anymore.
I hope this is the problem and you can fix it tomorrow morning and come for the drive ๐

Hey guys, just wanted to give an update. Insurance said it’ll pay for it provided I can get a police report saying it was an accident. After talking to 4 difference officers they said they won’t give a report because they can’t see the damage. Apparently, you only get a report if there is visible damage to the exterior of the car. So short of driving my car into a wall (not that hard lol) there seems to be no way of getting a police report.I’m still going to try to get a report somehow, if not then the only option is to find an aftermarket one, or a second hand one from sharjah or something.
Anyway, I’ll update again later.
@edeg1972 Sorry for the late reply man, and also sorry to hear about your axle. Did they say how much its bent? mine is pretty bad. I think if it’s not to bad you could still do it, not sure.
The jeep warranty service won’t cover a bent axle, however insurance will. I’ve been very busy this week so I didn’t get a chance to follow up but tomorrow I’m going to call the insurance company to see what they need.
I’ve been asking around for aftermarker axles and so far no one has any or out of stock. Of the 2 axle brands (besides mopar) one is Dynatrac and one is Teraflex. From what I’ve read both are good axles. Dynatrac axle gives a bit more ground clearance (better for rock crawling/going over boulders) where as the Teraflex one has holes to make the oil change easier. I think with the Dynatrac one the service guy (or whoever) has to open the axle housing. Which isn’t a bad idea to make sure the inside is in good condition. It’s actually recommended to do this every few differential oil changes.
I’ll update you on the insurance tomorrow when I talk to my insurance company.
PS: for reference my camber numbers were: -1.9 on driver side and -2.8 on passenger side.
quote JustDen:I was once having a flat battery on a Friday morning just before heading to the drive. Of course nobody around to give me a jump start. The guys at dial-a-battery came in 1 hour also and I made it for the drive ๐
I now always carry jump start cables and the cool portable jump starter, saves me every time ๐Ya I always carry jump cables with me and I got one of those portable jump batteries from Ace. But my battery was completely dead, as in not even able to bring it back as a zombie lol I jumped it once or twice at home using the family BMW X3 lol but on friday it wouldn’t even work like that hehe
I basically bought a battery from these guys, instead of going to a shop and buying it then bringing it home.quote joe.zeinoun:glad to hear it was only a battery issue @sash716…..
and congrats on the yellow top, should last u a long long time ๐Hehe ya glad it wasn’t the starter although that would’ve been an easy fix as well. Heard a lot of good things about the yellow top, should be good ๐
Hey Joe, and folks. I don’t think I can make it for this drive. I’m pretty sure either my battery is dead dead or my starter is shot (guessing starter) Either way I doubt I’ll have enough time tomorrow morning to diagnose and make repairs in time for the drive.
removed my name for now so one spot should be open.
Have fun guys, and please note any anti-wrangler jokes will be dealt with severely :)) :)) :))
quote AblernEagle:Hi,
Can anybody suggest where I can buy those stuff!!!Radio: dragon mart
Recovery rope, air compressor, tire deflator, tire pressure gauge, shackles, fire extinguisher, etc: Ace Hardware.
Flag, flag mount: pretty much any 4×4 garage: Ramy4X4, icon auto, AEV, Offroad Zone, etc. Depends on their stock though.
Jacks:
Floor jack/crocodile jack: dragon mart
Bottle jack: Ace Hardware or dragon mart
High lift jack: offroad garages or dragon mart.Note: I’m sure you can find all the stuff in dragon mart. But just keep in mind the quality might not be as good as the items from other stores in town.
There are a few items you should make sure it’s good quality such as rope, Jack, and air compressor.
Another note: make sure the rope you get is kinetic, as in stretchable. It should say on the box that it stretches by x%. Also don’t get the highest rating one.
From what I understand it’s recommended to use a rope that’s rated 3times the weight of the smaller car. For example a wrangler is around 2000kgs which is about 4400 lbs (pounds) so you should get a rope that’s at least 6000kg/13200lbs. So don’t get those ropes rated for 20000lbs or whatever. A 15000lbs one is fine.
The reason for this is heavier rated ropes are designed to stretch under a certain weight. If the car doesn’t reach that point the rope won’t stretch as much. I’m not 100% sure on this though but it kinda makes sense lol
